Book cover from Archway.jpg
At some point, every child in America is going to come face-to-face with a harmful and illegal drug, and how they respond to it could change their life, and yours, forever.

This book was written for parents and shares specific steps and strategies to both prevent and intervene when it comes to drugs and your child. It is for parents whose child may soon be befriended by drug dealers on their social media accounts as well as for parents of the teen whose addiction is ripping the family apart. Our children are in trouble.

Tip of the Spear is a frontline strategy manual that teaches parents how to educate, monitor, supervise and protect their child from this ubiquitous threat.

About Me

My work is deeply personal. I grew up in a family affected by addiction and later witnessed the same struggles in families I served professionally. I had tried marijuana, acid and mushrooms all before the age of 10, given to me by family members and their friends.  My father was an alcoholic suffering from unspoken PTSD.  My brother and sister-in-law died from drug abuse.

Professionally, I have spent the last 3 decades working in various capacities with families whose child was involved with drugs and the problems associated with abuse - criminality,  mental health and high risk behavior. I don’t just know this topic, I’ve lived it.

My formative years prepared me well for a professional career spanning over 3 decades of working with families battling addiction. As a school counselor, juvenile probation officer, gang investigator and private investigator specializing in adolescent/young adult drug intervention, I was part of, and witnessed firsthand, how this country’s “war on drugs” failed us all.

Whether you are looking to prevent substance use, recognize potential concerns, or learn how to respond effectively, this book offers guidance, reassurance, and hope. I highly recommend it to parents, caregivers, educators, and anyone who works with young people.
